From dancing Dutch to merry Montenegrins and everything in between

The festive period may commence, and the ‘Last Week in the Champions League’ series is back to bring you closer to what is new in the lives of your favourite handball stars.

Whilst the European club action is done for this year, the Women’s World Championship 2015 in Denmark is in full flow, with the business end of the competition approaching and a lot of Women’s EHF Champions League players in action over the past week.

From the festive Denmark, to the hardworking Balkans and everything in between, we bring you the last week’s off- court action with a bit of a fun twist.

The spirited Dutch team is winning, and doing it with style. With this behind the scene footage from Györ line player Yvette Broch, it is evident that their on-court flair and vivaciousness translated well into the dressing room.

Following their dominant 36:20 win against Serbia, Women’s EHF Champions League stars Nycke Groot, Yvette Broch and Estavana Polman had a signature celebration dance to the viral hit “Boeke”.

Santa is coming to town!

The Santa wears red, so he must be rooting for Montenegro, right?

The Montenegrin girls had their early Christmas wishes already granted, as they booked their ticket among the eight best teams at the Women’s World Championship 2015.

In their off-days in Herning, the Women’s EHF Champions League winners Katarina Bulatovic, Suzana Lazovic, Marina Rajcic, Djurdjina Jaukovic and Milena Knezevic took a photo with Santa, possibly wishing for a quarterfinal win against Norway, which will see the “Golden Lionesses” with a chance to battle for one of the medals.

Speaking of Santa, they might not have white beards yet, but hardly anyone would dispute the Santa Claus credentials of the well-groomed French siblings Luka and Nikola Karabatic.

The “gang of Santas” lead by the PSG duo alongside their teammates, Thierry Omeyer, Igor Vori and others, took the season break to pay a visit to the school for disabled children in Richebourg where they signed autographs and took pictures with the kids.

No time to rest

Judging by his training routines, Filip Ivic did not get exactly what he wanted for Christmas, with more and more balls thrown in his direction.

However, the Zagreb wonder kid seems to be coping with the situation quite well - in fact, the holiday routine of the hardworking Croatian goalkeeper is bound to pay dividends as soon as January, when the EHF EURO 2016 takes place.

As difficult as it is to believe, not everyone is in Denmark these days. While the Women’s World Championship 2015 is well underway, the non-participating players have to stay fit.

Arguably the two biggest names to miss out on the event, Andrea Lekic and Andrea Penezic, are training in Skopje, getting into the funny side of Pilates as part of their mid-season break programme.
