Höör chasing success in new tournament

Last season, H 65 from the Swedish town Höör won the Women's Challenge Cup. This season, the ambitious Swedish ladies are trying their luck in the EHF Cup, where the third round starts this weekend.

For Höör, this means a meeting with HC Karpaty from Ukraine who reached exactly the third round in the tournament last season, and who will obviously be keen on making it better this time. The first leg is played Saturday afternoon in Björvikshallen in Höör.

The team, Höör defeated in the Challenge Cup final last season, Issy Paris Hand are also in the EHF Cup this season, and in this round, the women from the French capital are up against Turkish opposition in the form of Ankara Yenimahalle BSK. Paris have the home advantage in the first match Saturday night.

Rostov Don's Danish coach Jan Leslie has stated that his club has a firm ambition of winning the EHF Cup this season. The first obstacle on his Russian team's road to that goal are the Challenge Cup winners from the 2012/13 season, Banik Most. The Czech team enters the Palace of Sport “Rostov Don” for the first match late Saturday afternoon.

Another team with an ambition of winning the tournament are the losing finalists from last season, Team Esbjerg. The current number one in the Danish league are starting their EHF Cup campaign this season in Slovenia against RK GEN-I Zagorje. Esbjerg playmaker Johanna Ahlm is a bit in doubt of the Danish team's first opponent.

“It is hard to say much about the chances against the Slovenians, but it is always fun to play in Europe against teams you are not used to meeting,” the Swedish international told her club's website.
