New look for a new season

Launched on Saturday 26 May 2012 at a special VIP event at the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2012, the new look for the VELUX EHF Champions League is slowly beginning to take shape.

Although the new logo is officially in use from 1 July 2012, ahead of the first draws of the new season, handball fans are already getting used to the new look, via the official website of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 – ehfFINAL4.com – which has already been rebranded, and also through advertising for the event in handball publications around Europe.

The design was created by Danish creative agency, e-types, who were given the brief to create a new and fresh image for Europe’s premium club handball competition, the VELUX EHF Champions League, whilst capturing the elements of prestige, sporting dynamic and passion that go with the competition.

Inspired by the dynamic nature of the game and the movement of the ball and players, the new logo is a departure from the competition’s logo that has been in place for many years, but retains some of the key elements such as the blue of the Champions League but in new and vibrant gradients.

Additional colour elements in the star-shaped logo include gold, symbolising the ultimate goal of every player and team as well as the red of the title sponsor of the competition, the VELUX Group.

WOMEN'S EHF Champions League

The women's competition will see a change too, as the whole of the EHF Champions League brand is given a new look.

Based on the same star logo as in the men's competition, the red of title sponsor, the VELUX Group, has been replaced with a strong but feminine golden yellow colour.

A distinctive look for the WOMEN'S EHF Champions League, which will make the competition much more attractive not only to players and fans but also to potential partners and sponsors.

New EHF logo

The new corporate identity allows for much more creativity in the future, with key elements from the logo to be used in advertising and promotion of the VELUX EHF Champions League and VELUX EHF FINAL4 as well as online and in TV graphics.

The VELUX EHF Champions League and Women's EHF Champions League logos are the first in a series of developments, which will also see a refresh and modernisation of the European Handball Federation’s corporate identity.

At the core of the new EHF Champions League is a new EHF logo, which will be officially launched at the EHF Congress in Monte Carlo, Monaco on 22 and 23 June 2012. This distinctive logo will serve as an anchor throughout all the logos of EHF competitions and activities in the future.

The new EHF logo and an exclusive EHF font will be in use across the federation and all its communications from 1 July 2012.
