New wingman for Wilbek

42 year old Henrik Kronborg is the new wingman of Ulrik Wilbek, national coach of Denmark, Europe’s reigning European champions.

At a press conference at the Danish Handball Federation's headquarters on Monday, 10 September Kronborg was officially announced as the Danish national team’s new assistant coach.

Henrik Kronborg will take up where Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen left off, Bredsdorff-Larsen stepped down as assistant coach after the London Olympics in order to focus on his job as head coach of the new team KIF Kolding. KIF Kolding is developing a new project called 'KIF Kolding København'.

Last season Henrik Kronborg was assistant coach to Bredsdorff-Larsen in KIF Kolding, and this season he was set up to assume the role as assistant coach in AG København alongside the role as coach for Denmark´s U20 team. However, since AG København were declared bankrupt, Kronborg left the U20 team and added the title of assistant coach to the senior team to his CV.

Henrik Kronborg was in charge of Danish outfit Nordsjælland Håndbold, and played himself as a back court player for Helsingør IF in the Danish league.

Particularly when it comes to developing young talent, Ulrik Wilbek is convinced that he is going to be a great source of inspiration, to the players and staff alike.

“It will be extremely interesting to work with the very best players in the country”, Henrik Kronborg said. “I have the greatest respect for the results which the team and its management has achieved, and I am really looking forward to working with the squad and the background staff,” added Kronborg.

The first tasks for Wilbek, Kronborg and the Danish national team will be on 3 and 4 November, when the Danes start their preparations for the IHF World Championship in Spain with two friendlies against Argentina in Farum and Odense.
