The Romanian team lost the Friday game by one goal (23:24), but won on Saturday 22:21 when they were listed as the home team (despite trailing by seven after the first half) and with aggregate score tied (45:45) they qualified thanks to higher number goals scored on the opponents´ court.

Macedonian club ŽRK Vardar SCBT won both matches in Skopje with Greece´s A.C. Loux Patras – 28:19 and 27:16 and also proceeded.

The Danish side FC Midtjylland Handball easily sailed past Spain´s Helvetia Balonmano Alcobendas after winning both matches on the home courts in Ikast. Another Danish participant Team Tvis Holstebro, who remained just four goals shy of scoring 100 goals in Round 2, continued with an impressive shooting show against Lugi as they defeated the Swedish hosts in Lund 39:24.

Last season´s Women's EHF Challenge Cup winners HAC Havre from France dominated in the Netherlands against the home team Westfriesland SEW 38:22 as Julie Dozet scored ten goals for visitors.

Three more teams made a huge step towards last sixteen in the first leg as Norway´s Tertnes Bergen beat German team Frankfurter HC 34:22, Slovenia´s RK GEN-I Zagorje defeated Kosovo´s KHF Prishtina 43:22 and Russia´s Astrakhanochka won over Siófok KC-Galerius Fürdö from Hungary 41:28.
