The preparations for the 2009/2010 European Cup season is entering the final stages.


2009/2010 European Cup Season - Information Update

The European Handball Federation has closed the registration process to the 2009/10 European Cup and has allocated the teams to the different competitions and to the individual positions according to the seeding lists for each competition.

A total of 268 teams from 42 EHF Member Federations resp. Associated Members have registered for the new season in the eight different European Cup competitions.

The 2009/10 season is the 17th European Cup season under the umbrella of the European Handball Federation, which took over the organisation of the European club competitions from the IHF with the start of the 1993/94 season.

For the very first time there will be a women’s team from Ireland (Astra UCD) competing in the Women’s Challenge Cup.

The first draw will take place on July 21, 2009, at 11.00 hrs. at the European Handball Federation’s headquarters in Vienna. Please refer to the link to the individual competitions for details about the seeding.

The Men’s and Women’s EHF Cup will start with matches of round 1 on the weekends of September 5/6 (first leg) and 12/13 (second leg). The Cup Winners’ Cup as well as the Challenge Cup (Men and Women) will only start at the beginning of October.

The draws for the Men’s and Women’s EHF Champions League were already carried out on the 24th June, 2009 and the EHF, in cooperation with the EHF Marketing and its partners, is currently coordinating the playing schedule for the matches of the Group Phase.
