YAC Beach Handball EURO 2012 contract signed

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the European Handball Federation, a workshop on Beach Handball was held in the Eventpyramide Vösendorf, south of Vienna (AUT).

The workshop “Beach Handball – a professional sport?” was well attended and tackled the topics of creating Beach Handball as a product, defining differences to indoor handball and featured major discussions about marketing, television and sponsorship-

New innovative ideas in the fields of broadcasting were presented, that give the sport promising expansion possibilities.

At the end of the workshop the contract for staging the Younger Age Category European Beach Handball Championship 2012 was signed by the Georgian Handball Federation and the EHF.

The major event will take place from 6-8 July 2012 and be played in Batumi, on the beautiful Georgian Black Sea coast.

Georgian Secretary General Zurab Kakabadze said: “We are very happy and proud to host this event. It is an important possibility for us to develop handball, both beach and indoor, in Georgia and the whole surrounding region. Beach Handball is just beginning to be established in our country and we hope that it will become a big sport, because we have wonderful beaches and it is warm until the end of October.”
