EHF EURO 2016 Qualification Workshop held in Vienna

Representatives from twelve member federations met in Vienna on Thursday 16 February 2012 for a workshop focusing on the 2016 EHF EURO Qualification Phase 1.

The EHF, led by Jan Tuik as Chairman of the Competitions Commission, informed the workshop in detail about the new qualification system for EHF EURO 2016 which was approved by the Executive Committee at its meeting at the final weekend of the EHF EURO in Belgrade at the end of January.

The new system will see the first phase of the EHF EURO competition played home and away, instead of in one venue, over one weekend, starting in October/November 2012 parallel to the matches of the 2014 EHF EURO Qualification.

The representatives of the participating federations used the occasion to exchange information and opinions not only with the EHF but also amongst themselves and underlined the importance of this new playing system in order to further develop the presence and the value of their national teams in their countries.
