Men’s and Women’s European Beach Tour Masters Finals won by Detono Zagreb


Zagreb take beach titles

Detono Zagreb are the beach champions of Europe following their victories in both the men’s and the women’s European Beach Tour Masters Finals, played in Lagoa, Portugal on 2 and 3 June 2012.

The Croatian champions made beach handball history, with the men’s team winning for a fourth time and the women's side for the second time in a row.

In the men’s final, Detono Zagreb beat Budaörs Beachstars BHC from Hungary, winning both sets, 10-21 and 13-14.

Presenting the prizes were Laszló Sinka, Chairman of the EHF Beach Handball Commission, Olle Jorstad, Member of the Beach Handball Comission and Vice-President of the Portuguese Federation, António Galambas.

Zagreb’s women’s team beat the Hungarian side, OVB Beach Girls 2-1, taking the title in a shoot-out. OVB won the first set 12-17, and Zagreb the second 21-14. Detono Zagreb won the final battle against the goalkeeper 6-5.

The winners received their awards from László Sinka, Marco Trespidi, Member of the Beach Handball Commission and Rui Correia, Vice-President of Lagoa city council.
