Five teams - Permskie Medvedi (RUS), HC Kumanovo (MKD), HC Meshkov Brest (BLR), Tauron Stal Mielec (POL) and Balatonfüredi KSE (HUN) already clinched their spots in Round 2 as they played both legs against their opponents during the last weekend. Before the season the Men’s EHF Cup and the Men’s Cup Winners’ Cup have joined together to create a three tier men’s competition system, with the VELUX EHF Champions League as the premium product, followed by the new EHF Cup and then Challenge Cup.
