Women´s EHF Cup Round 2, second leg review
Ten more teams made their way to the Round 3 of the Women´s EHF Cup during last weekend 19-21 October and joined Helvetia Bm. Alcobendas from Spain and ETV-Érdi VSE from Hungary who had qualified one week earlier.
In six places both legs of Round 2 were played but only four hosts took advantage of the home court. Romania´s HC Dunarea Braila beat Montegrin side WHC Biseri twice (39:14, 33:15) and Belgium´s Femina Vise had a similar easy task with Israel´s Maccabi Arazim Ramat gan (41:21, 41:23).
Danish Team Tvis Holstebro left only four goals shy of scoring 100 goals in two matches against ŽRK Borac Banja Luka (54:22, 42:25). Italy´s ASD Sassari Città dei Candelieri recorded two wins against Bnei Hertzeliya from Israel 30:24, 33:25 but in the Round 3 the Sardinian team will face the defending trophy holders Lada Togliatti from Russia.
The home support did not matter for both Icelandic teams. Valur Reykjavík had a successful trip to Spain as in a double match with Valencia Aicequip they won 27:22 and 37:25, while their city rivals from Fram failed at home against Norway´s Tertnes Bergen after 21:35 defeat and only 21:18 win.
Yuliya Tarasova scored the round record 11 goals leading Ukraine´s HC Karpaty Uzhgorod to the second convincing win (40:28) over HSC "Etar-64" Veliko Tarnovo from Bulgaria and to the qualification for the next round.
The first leg of Women´s EHF Cup Round 3 will be played 10-11 November, the second leg is scheduled one week later.
