Last season's runners-up from Zalau will play both matches in Iceland
Women´s EHF Cup Round 3, first leg preview
Over the weekend OF 9-11 November; 24 teams including last season´s runners-up and former winners of the 2002 and 2011 editions will be in action in the Women´s EHF Cup Round 3, first leg. The second leg is scheduled for 17-18 November.
Last season´s finalists HC Zalau will travel to Iceland and will face the home team Valur Reykjavík twice on Friday and Saturday.
FC Midtjylland Handball will encounter the Spain´s Helvetia Balonmano Alcobendas twice on the home court in Ikast as the 2002 and 2011 trophy holders launch their attempt to tie the record of fellow Danish club Viborg HK who won this competition three times (1994, 1999, 2004).
Another Danish participant is Team Tvis Holstebro, who remained just four goals shy of scoring 100 goals against ŽRK Borac Banja Luka (54:22, 42:25) in Round 2, will play against Sweden´s Lugi.
Last season´s Women's EHF Challenge Cup winners HAC Havre from France will start their campaign in the competition against Westfriesland SEW in the Netherlands.
Russia´s Lada Togliatti is the only team already qualified for the Last 16. After their Round 3 opponents ASD Sassari Citta dei Candelieri from Italy had withdrawn, the reigning trophy holders were awarded with a default 20:0 win and made the first easy step in the quest of becoming only the second team after Hungarian side DVSC Debrecen (1995 and 1996) to lift the trophy twice in a row.
Grupo Asfi Itxako Navarra, who are Spanish champions and former winners of the EHF Cup from 2009 will play both legs of their tie against AC Latsia in Cyprus next weekend 17 and 18 November.
