13 nations each have entered the final tournament in Randers in the men's and women's category


26 teams vie for gold at 2013 European Beach Handball Championship

The European Handball Federation has confirmed the teams that will be competing at the 8th European Beach Handball Championship in the Danish city of Randers in July 2013.

13 teams each have entered for the men's and women's final tournament and will compete for gold when the six-day event throws off between 9 and 14 July.

For the men's event these 13 teams are: Hosts Denmark, defending champions Croatia as well as Spain, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine.

For the women's event the 13 teams are: Hosts and 2011 European Beach Handball Championship silver medallists Denmark, defending champions Croatia as well as Spain, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine.

The composition of the groups will be decided at a later stage.

Two years ago, at the 7th European Beach Handball Championship in Umag, Croatia, the hosts dominated the event, winning the men's as well as the women's final.

Russia took silver and Spain bronze in the men's event, while Denmark won silver and Italy bronze in the women's event.

Prior to the senior teams 16 younger age category (YAC) teams will take to the sandy courts in Randers.

Denmark, Spain, Hungary, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, and Turkey have entered for the Men's YAC European Beach Handball Championship while the YAC women's teams stem from Armenia, Denmark, Spain, Hungary, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, and Turkey.

The YAC final tournament throws on 5 July and lasts until 7 July 2013.
