MATCH REVIEW: HC BMS Milenium could not make the most of home advantage in the Monday/Tuesday doubleheader
Lviv complete Women's Challenge Cup semi-finals
PO SC Galytchanka-Lviv became the fourth and final semi-finalist in the Women´s Challenge Cup, as the Ukrainian team won the doubleheader away against Serbian HC BMS Milenium on Monday and Tuesday by the narrowest of margins.
HC BMS Milenium (SRB) vs PO SC Galytchanka-Lviv (UKR) 28:29 (17:13)
It did not bother Galytchanka-Lviv much having to play both legs of the quarter-final tie against Milenium away from home. The Ukrainian team could leave Belgrade satisfied with a one-goal aggregate win after the two matches on Monday and Tuesday evening.
Both matches were played in the Sportski Centar “Vozdovac” in Belgrade, where Milenium were leading 17:13 at half-time in the first match, but the visitors managed to get back into the game and snatch the win by one at the end, 29:28.
The following evening, the first half belonged to the hosts again, this time with a half time lead of 15:12 in favour of Milenium, but once again, the guests managed to close the gap, this time get a 24:24 draw, partly thanks to 10 goals from Iryna Stelmakh. Adding those to her seven goals from the first match, the 20-year-old left back was the top scorer over the two games with 17 goals.
In their semi-final in April, Galytchanka-Lviv will meet Swedish H 65 Höör. Lviv have the home advantage in the first match.
