NEWS REPORT: The home right in all three women’s European club competitions has been determined.
Issy, Zvezda and Esbjerg to host final games
The French club Issy Paris Hand, Russia’s Zvezda and Esbjerg of Denmark will host the final games in three European Cups on 10/11 May.
The home right draw on Tuesday, 15 April at the EHF Office in Vienna defined that the first leg of the Women’s Challenge Cup Final will be played in Sweden’s Höör on 3/4 May and will be followed by the second leg match one week later in Paris. The draw has been carried out by Markus Glaser, Senior Manager of the EHF Competitions and Mathieu Marchand, event manager of Issy Paris Hand.
“We are glad we will be able to host the second leg game and prepare a great handball show for our fans and the city. Last year we were not so lucky as we played the first leg against Hypo in the Cup Winners’ Cup,” Marchand said to eurohandball.com.
“This year it is a different competition, but we used our experience from the last year in each round on our way to the final, what was our secret objective for this season. Our players and the technical staff will do our best to win the trophy as well, although we do not know much about our opponents.”
In the Women’s EHF Cup the first leg will be played in Togliatti, Russia, where Lada will play host to Esbjerg on 3/4 May before both teams decide about the trophy in the second leg in Denmark (10/11 May).
Cup Winners' Cup
The situation in the Cup Winners’ Cup has been set already after semi-finals due to the fact that Denmark’s Viborg HK had the home right at the second leg during the last three seasons (2011/12 Cup Winners’ Cup Final). Viborg will therefore receive Zvezda Zvenigorod in the first leg before teams move to Russia for the second leg.
