ROUND REVIEW: Double headers over the weekend see O.F.N. Ionias, ZRK Naisa Nis, Pogon Baltica Szczecin, Fram and IVUVENTA Michalovce advancing to the next stage
Five teams already reach Round 3 of Women’s EHF Cup
Five teams have already reached the third round of the Women’s EHF Cup after they successfully eased through theis respective double headers they played over the past weekend in Round 2.
O.F.N. Ionias were not troubled by London GD Handball Club as they beat the English side 35:11 and 27:17 in Greece.
In Serbia, the second Greek team in the competition was not that lucky, as A.C. Loux Patras went down 14:27 and 8:38 against ZRK Naisa Nis.
Matches were a closer affair in Poland, where Pogon Baltica Szczecin played against LC Brühl Handball.
However, the Polish team still left no doubts about the better team, as they defeated their Swiss visitors 31:23 on Saturday and 28:19 on Sunday.
Icelandic Fram theoretically decided everything already Friday in their first match against HZRK Grude Autoherc from Israel which they won 38:22. They then took things easier on Saturday but still won 28:27.
In the weekend’s fifth double header IUVENTA Michalovce from Slovakia recorded two impressive wins, 48:15 and 47:10, at home against HC Standard from Luxembourg.
In three encounters in which only the first leg was played Success Schoonmaak/VOC Amsterdam won 34:20 at Belgian sinde Femina Vise; DHK Banik Most won 30:17 at home against Cassano Magnago from Italy, and Hubo Initia Hasselt beat KHF Kastrioti 32:23.
Round 2 in the Women’s EHF Cup continues and concludes next weekend.
