Serbian talent rising

The young Serbian left back player Momir Rnić took the decision to transfer from Gorenje to Celje before this season 2010/11. One reason for the 22 year old player was also coach Zvonimir Serdarušić, who used to play together with Momir's father in the Yugoslavian national team.

eurohandball.com: How do you see your VELUX EHF Champions League debut for Celje, where you scored 11 goals against Kielce?

Momir Rnić: I am very happy for our victory. We all knew that the first match in Poland could be decisive. Not only was it an important game on away court but it is also important for our confidence. I am definitely happy with my performance.

eurohandball.com: Do you agree that you have made a huge progress since you came from Gorenje Velenje?

Momir Rnić: 'Noka' Serdarušić is something special. He was one of the reasons of moving to Celje. He makes us work really hard but it is worth the effort. The coach also trusts me and I think I am slowly starting to pay back.

eurohandball.com: In Kielce you were practically unstoppable. Do you already feel well adapted to team?

Momir Rnić: I always wanted to play perfect for myself and in superb cooperation with the team mates. Uroš Zorman is an extremely good playmaker; his support helps me a lot. Playing with him and the others is somehow difficult to describe, but it produces a fantastic outcome.

eurohandball.com: Can you continue playing in that way?

Momir Rnić: I hope so, even though it is more important that the team is winning than me scoring all the time. In Kielce I had a good day and we had great tactics. Maybe in the next match somebody else will be the unstoppable one. I wouldn’t mind, important is Celje's victory.

eurohandball.com: Do you believe your Group A opponents are now a bit afraid after seeing Celje's first match in Kielce?

Momir Rnić: They could be (smiles). We showed both individual quality and team quality. When we finally meet Barcelona, Rhein-Neckar Löwen or Kiel on the court, the fever will be high. We will have expectations with so many good players in the court. And already on Saturday we will see, in our Zlatorog hall.

eurohandball.com: Will it be sold oud?

Momir Rnić: I really hope so. I am very much waiting for this day to come. The other day I was watching a video from the year 2004 when the hall was completely sold out…what an atmosphere, incredible! I hope that I will experience something like that soon. If this already happens on Saturday against Rhein Neckar Löwen, the Germans won’t have any chance against us.
