FCK: two players leaving

Two players leave the Danish Women’s Champions League team, FCK Håndbold, shortly before the start of the league. The Swedish backcourt player Terese Krantz has gone home to Sweden, while injury forced defence specialist Line Hovgaard to end her career prematurely.

Former Slagelse star Hovgaard has to quit playing“Terese Krantz returned to Sweden because she felt homesick, while Line Hovgaard had to end her career unfortunately. Her knees are simply worn out,” FCK coach, Anja Andersen told the Danish website ekstrabladet.dk.

While Terese Krantz played for FCK last season, Hovgaard was one of the players who followed Anja Andersen from former CL winners Slagelse before this season.

Still 20 players on board

However, Anja Andersen does not seem to risk shortage of players in the coming season. The squad still includes no less than 20 top players, which should be sufficient.

A difficult schedule is ahead of the team: Danish league, Champions League qualification in the first weekend of October and Champions League group matches, in case of qualification.

The first test of the ambitious Copenhagen side was unsuccessful: Team Esbjerg – a team that closed last season in the lower ranks – have beaten FCK in the Danish Cup by 25-22.
