New broadcast partner in France

Al Jazeera’s recently launched beIN SPORT is to show the VELUX EHF Champions League and Women’s EHF Champions League in France following a new deal brokered by MP Silva, one of the world’s leading sport media companies.

The package includes matches from the Men’s VELUX EHF Champions League, and in particular all matches from the French teams in the competition.

The channel will also matches from the Women’s EHF Champions League. Also included is the weekly Magazine Show ‘Rewind – The Handball Show’.

Peter Vargo, Managing Director of EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “The new deal with Al Jazeera’s new sports channel BeIN Sport in France underlines the importance of the EHF Champions League on the international sports market.

“We’re looking forward to working with a new and strong partner to further develop our coverage of the men’s and women’s competitions in France.”

In March 2012, EHF Marketing GmbH, the marketing arm of the European Handball Federation, sold the media rights for the VELUX EHF Champions League and Women’s EHF Champions League in France, USA and Canada to MP Silva until the end of the 2016/17 season.

beIN Sport

Launched on 1st June 2012, beIN Sport is a French premium network of sports channels operated by Qatar-based broadcaster Al Jazeera. It consists of two channels – beIN Sport 1 and beIN Sport 2 – and holds the rights to broadcast a number of major sports events on French television.
