EHF Club Competitions
The EHF Champions League was introduced in 1993 and is the top-tier competition in European club handball for men and women. It brings together leading clubs from across Europe.
From the 2026/27 season, a new playing system is in place for the EHF Champions League Men. The group phase features now 24 teams from 15 countries, drawn into six groups of four. After the group phase as well as the main round a connection to the EHF European League Men play-offs as well Last 16 was made.
The competition format of the EHF Champions League Women remains unchanged, with 16 teams divided into two groups of eight.
The EHF FINAL4 Men will be played in LANXESS arena/Cologne (GER) and the EHF FINAL4 Women in the MVM Dome/Budapest (HUN).
The EHF European League is the second-tier competition of European club handball and has established itself as a major European club competition, bringing together ambitious clubs from across the continent.
From the 2026/27 season, a new playing system is in place for the EHF European League Men. The number of participating clubs stays the same - 32 clubs. The competition now consists of five phases: the group phase, the play-offs, the Last 16, the quarter-finals, and the EHF Finals Men. The remaining 16 teams after the group phase will be joined in the play-offs by the 12 teams that finished third or fourth in the group phase of the EHF Champions League Men. The 14 winners coming through the play-offs will be joined by two more teams from the EHF Champions League Men — those that finished fifth in the top flight's main round.
The four teams emerging from the quarter-finals qualify for the Winamax EHF Finals 2027 in Hamburg (GER).
The competition format of the EHF European League Women remains unchanged. After a qualification round, 16 teams are split into four groups of four. The group phase starts in January, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the quarter-finals. The season culminates in the EHF Finals Women.
The EHF European Cup, named as such since the 2020/21 season provides an entry point to European club handball for many clubs from across the continent. All rounds, including the finals, are played over two legs, with one match at home and one away.
