Court of Handball fines HC PPD Zagreb

The EHF Court of Handball has ruled upon legal proceedings opened against the club HC PPD Zagreb following reported infringements occurred within the organisation of Rounds 3 and 5 of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2015/16.

The club distributed, without prior approval, promotional flyers displaying the logo of a company competing with an EHF exclusive partner.

While defining the type and extent of the sanction, the Court of Handball took into consideration aggravating circumstances in accordance with Articles 12.1 and 13 of the EHF Legal Regulations.

First, the club infringed the regulations despite having received a feedback from the EHFM after the first occurrence whereby they were invited to not distribute such material again.

Second, the club has already been sanctioned for similar infringements less than five years ago, the principle of recurrence shall therefore be applied.

Hence, and according to Article D.1 a) of the EHF List of Penalties, the Court of Handball decides to impose a fine of €10.000 on the club for having violated the EHF, respectively the EHFM, exclusivity rights as regards activation tools in the frame of the VELUX EHF Champions League. Part of the fine, i.e. €3.500 (three thousand Euros) is imposed on a suspended basis for a period of two (2) years starting as of the date of the decision.

An appeal may be filed with the EHF Court of Appeal within seven days.
