EHF Executive Committee News Round-up

Introduction
The EHF Executive Committee met in Skopje, MKD on the eve of the final weekend of EHF EURO 2008 for their last meeting of the calendar year.

Reports and Meetings of Bodies
In addition to the traditional reports from the President, Vice-president, Treasurer and Secretary General, the Chairman of the newly introduced Beach Handball Commission gave feedback on the first meeting, as well as the Chairman of the Competitions and Methods Commission. All three Chairmen make up the Technical Delegation, which has already held their first meeting of the electoral period, meeting to exchange feedback, progress and information on the Commissions’ work. The Executive were given and confirmed information about the meeting.

The newly introduced Technical Refereeing Committee will hold their first meeting at the Headquarters of the EHF on 9/10 January 2009. It was agreed to introduce the Technical Scientific Commission in March 2009.

The Executive welcomed the adjusted EHF legal system, which has been aligned with the international sport procedure. The Arbitration Tribunal and Court of Appeal have held a joint meeting to coordinate proceedings and work processes.

Task Force Meeting – EURO Calendar
The Executive Committee were informed about the recent meeting of the Task Force for EURO Calendar, which took place on 5th December in Skopje. The next meeting on this matter will follow.

IHF Meeting
IHF President Dr. Hassan Moustafa, as a guest, and Treasurer Roca, as IHF Representative at EURO 2008, are also in Skopje for the EURO. They joined the meeting briefly to discuss international matters, underlining the desire to work in close cooperation.

Competitions
2009 – 2012 events
Reports were given on all events planned during this period.

W19 European Championship
The 2011 Women’s 19 European Championship was awarded to the Netherlands, who presented a concept based on the EHF EURO event for 2012. The event will take place in Almere and Rotterdam from 4 – 14 August 2011.

EBT Masters (Beach Handball)
The finals of the 2008 Beach Tour were awarded to Greece and will take place on 30-31 May 2009 in Melita.

Masters Games
The dissolution of the European Masters Sport Association was reported on. As of immediate effect, the masters activities (veteran) will fall under the auspices of the International Masters Games Association. The 2011 Masters Games will take place in Lignano Sabbiadoro/ITA.

Club Competitions
The findings of the Men’s Club Committee on a technical level and Board on a marketing level were heard. The Executive gave the green light to develop the structure of the EHF Champions League product further. This relates to the reduction to 24 teams and the revised playing system of groups of six with a new second phase to be defined.

After marketing and competition matters are worked out in detail, the last step will be for the Executive to put the stamp on it in their next meeting.

Conclusion
The entire Executive remained in Skopje to follow the final matches. The next meeting will be held in Moscow on 28/29 March 2009.
