Handball fans run for EHF EURO tickets

Tickets are selling quickly for the Women's EHF EURO 2016 in Sweden, with the majority of tickets for the championship's most decisive matches already sold.

More than 8,000 of the 11,000 tickets available are already sold for the final on 18 December in Gothenburg's Scandinavium. For the semi-finals on 16 December also in Gothenburg 6,500 tickets are already sold.

For handball fans wishing to attend these matches, this is the way to the ticket shop.

"Ticket sales run surprisingly well. The explanation is that we have a charismatic team with a lot of world class players that a lot of people want to see," says the championship's CEO and for Swedish international Frank Ström.

"There's a huge handball interest in Scandinavia. Denmark and Norway always enjoy reat support at international championships. Of course, I hope to see a lot of Swedes on the stands as well and that we proceed to the main round and the final weekend in Gothenburg."

The handball fever has not only hit Gothenburg. Hosts Sweden start their campaign in the preliminary round in Stockholm and more than 5,000 of the 7,500 tickets available have already been sold for the first match day on 4 December when Sweden face Spain and Serbia play Slovenia.

"It's amazing that so many want to support us. I was born in Stockholm, so for me it's extra fun since we don't have a lot of national team games or camps in the capital.

"I think it's important for both Stockholm and handball in general that we show that we can create handball partys in the capital," says Hagman, who is also the tournament's ambassador for Stockholm.

The Women's EHF EURO 2016 takes place from 4 to 18 December. Besides Stockholm and Gothenburg, the tournament is played in Kristianstad (Group B), Malmö (Group C) and Helsingborg (Group D and Main Round Group II).
